The Modern Family Office: Governance in an Era of Complexity was a Chicago Bar Association continuing-legal-education (CLE) seminar held on 23 September 2026 at Holland & Knight's Chicago office, 150 North Riverside Plaza, Suite 2700. The one-hour programme (16:00-17:00 CT, reception afterwards) covered how family offices design and govern themselves — the difference between structures that arise by accident and structures designed on purpose, and what it takes to build governance that outlasts the founders. The moderator was Elizabeth Garlovsky (Holland & Knight, Private Wealth Services); the panel was Patrick Emans and Trisha Rich (Holland & Knight; Rich is also president of the Chicago Bar Association), and the organizer's own X recap additionally names Pamela Lucina (Northern Trust). A slide in the organizer's day-of photo reads 'FAMILY STRUCTURES THAT SUSTAIN GENERATIONS'. This was a practitioner and legal-adviser audience — an educational CLE seminar, NOT a principal-only UHNW summit — and neither the host firm nor the Chicago Bar Association publishes a delegate roster or claims UHNWI attendance. Nothing on this page is an attendance list, and no figure here is a deal, a commitment, an AUM or a net-worth claim.
